Lavinia's Fan Fiction (draft)

Based on 'The Mentalist' Television series. Using one of my fan fiction links about the TV series as the core inspiration of my narrative/first brief.

Style:- Detective Fiction/ Detective Drama

Setting:- Sacramento, CBI headquarters

Title:- Dirty Cop

Plot:- Patrick Jane and the CBI (California Bureu of Investigation) team investigates a death of a young girl. When Patrick Jane suspects the Shierff is a dirty cop, before he could tell Lisbon and the team Jane is taken hostage but using his mind games and closely observing his surroundings is able to give Lisbon and the CBI team a headups of his where a bouts. But it doesn't stop there, Jane finds an anonymous parcel on his desk with a note reading: "Let the games begin"...


Outline:-

Begining:- A young girl is found dead by a young lady during her morning run, Patrick Jane and the CBI team are on the case to find the reason for this young girls death and most importantly the killer.

As the investigation proceeds, Jane has a strong feeling that something is not right in the CBI headquarters but decides to keep his thoughts to himself until he believes his feeling is right. Throughout the investigation working together with the CBI team, Jane has come to a conclusion that there is someone within the investigation that is purposely making mistakes within the investigation and tells Agent, Teresa Lisbon.

Now, with the idea of someone ruining the chances of solving the investigation, Lisbon informs the team to work carefully. Jane working his magic finds out that the Shierff is working together with an anonymous individual but before Jane could reach Lisbon to inform her about the Shierff, he is knocked out from behind.

Middle:- Waking up with a major headache, Jane looks around, tries to move his hands to find it his cuffed to a pole, trying to focuss Jane tries his best to remember what had happen to him but before he could come to a possible solution, he hears a cry from across the room. A young girl. Jane hears a car pull up, he closes his eyes and pretends that he is still unconcious. He hears footsteps. Door unlocks. Footsteps comning down the stairs. He listens out to hear the voice of this person and to his suprise it is the voice of the Shierff.

"Stop your crying sweetie. Do you want to end up like your friend?" The shierff laughs.

Jane hears sounds of footsteps coming closer and closer towards him.

However, back at CBI headquaters Lisbon is curious of the whereabouts of Patrick Jane, constantly calling his cellphone. Asking Van Pelt, Cho and Rigsby if they've seen him. Lisbon checking her phone once again, realises she had miss calls from Jane. Checking her voicemail she finds a clue to where Jane could be.

Jane had left Lisbon a message but before he could finsh his sentence she hears a thumb and the Shierff's voice. Thinking back to what he had told her about 'someone' messing with the investigation it is not long before Lisbon click that the Shierff is the insider.

Lisbon and the team working on finding Jane, back at the basement Jane is talking with the young lady across the room trying to get some information about her and the story behind the death of her friend.
 The Shierff is gun down, Jane uncuffed.

"What took you so long" he asks Lisbon

Heading back to headquarters for questioning.

Ending:- The Sheriff is taken back to the CBI headquarters for questioning but the team cannot get anything out of him. From a hardworking town Sheriff to a quiet and 'in his own world' the team is worried about him. Whilst this is happening the girl from the basement, Ana, is in shock, trying her best to tell Jane what she can remember. In the end, after making the CBI teams work difficult, The Sheriff mutters something with a dirty grin on his face. A frustrated Lisbon slams her hands on the table ,
"So now you want to talk?"

With that dirty grin on his face, he mutters

"This is just the beginning, we're just getting started"

Confessing to the murder of the young girl, the Sheriff is taken to the cells. Jane still seriously thinking about what the Sheriff said in the questioning room, he sees a parcel on his desk, walking back to the office he sees a brown parcel on his desk with a note reading: "Let the games begin"...

End of story.

  1. Some clear planning. Quite a lot of characters for 800 to 1000 words, so you will have to watch that you keep things reasonably tight.

    1. Thanks Frank, Im just keeping my options open, I will only use mainly 3-4 characters. I have my protagonist and antagonist just need another 2 characters to complete my story. But Im not quite sure who yet. Thank you for your feed back, I have taken it into account.
