My five fan fiction links
1. New Blood
In this story the writer adds a new member to the True Blood series; a younger sister Eve Regan to one of
the main characters Pamela Swynford De Beaufort commonly known as Pam. Eric
Northman is Pam and Eve’s career and their maker who turned them into Vampires. Eve flies out to meet Eric because she can sense his hurt over the death of his maker who had recently committed suicide and she is
distressed because Eric is still very unstable, even going as far as trying to commit suicide himself. Eric realizes that
he cannot leave behind his two Vallmofrö (meaning ‘Poppy seed’ in
Swedish), Vallmofrö is a loving and affectionate term he uses for his Eve and
Pam. Eric is over 1,100 years old Swedish Vampire and he knows he can’t leave them behind
because they still need all his help and guidance like his late maker gave him. He realizes this as he can see the effect his near suicide attempt had on Eve.
2. Love in Paris
This fan fiction story is based around the tv series Desperate Housewife's and it's a spin off about two characters from the show Katherine Mayfair and Robin Gallagher. They finally admit their love for each other even though it's hard because one of the characters Katherine never considered herself to be a lesbian. In this spin off it carries on the story of when the couple move away from their home in America and go to Paris, France. The couple seem happy and in love but Katherine does get jealous when she notice's that the taxi driver is eyeing up Robin. In the end the couple get to their hotel room and the impression that I got from the story was that they seemed excited and happy to be starting there life together.
I liked that the writer did a spin off to what happens after the couple moves to France because as a Desperate Housewife's fan it would be interesting to see how the couple were getting on in their lives and what they were doing. However I felt that the writer could have added more depth and incorporated some other interesting story lines into the plot, perhaps adding other characters from the series into the story. If the plot was deepened I would have been much more interested in the writers fan fiction.
3. What if you woke up and couldn't remember?
This story is based on the Twilight book series. In the first book one of the main characters Bella, ends up in hospital and this fan fiction tells the story of what if she woke up and forgot everything that happened in the last four months. Bella had recently moved in to live with her Dad in a small town called Forks. She had fallen in love with a man called Edward and later he confided in her that he was indeed a vampire. They were inseparable and completely smitten with eachother. After a fight between other vampires and Bella getting seriously hurt in the process she wakes up in hospital and doesn't recognise Edward and doesn't remember the time she spent living with her Dad in Forks.
I like how the writer tells the story from both Bella and Edwards point of view. You can feel the pain that Edward is feeling after Bella doesn't remember him and it's a very emotional reading. As any Twilight fan would know is how intense Bella and Edwards love is for one another and for her not to remember him is very sad. I would like to know what happens further in this story because the writer leaves you hanging because there is the chance that she will remember. This is very good writing from this fan fiction writer.
4. Murder's in Springfield
In this story The Simpsons arch enemy Slideshow Bob is out to kill Bart Simpson the son in the family again after many other failed attempts. Slideshow Bob feels that Bart has ruined his life and wants to put an end to it. As Slideshow Bob breaks into the house he wonders why it's so quiet and as he enters Bart's parents room, he finds Marge and Homer Simpson dead in their bed covered in blood and their throats slit. As he moves further in the house he also finds Bart's older sister Lisa dead with the knife still in her throat. Slideshow Bob hopes that Bart is still alive so he can kill him himself but also finds him dead like the rest of the family, he is delighted over this, however he becomes increasingly curious of who is responsible for the murdering of the Simpson family. As he enters baby Maggie's room he expects to find her dead aswell but instead he finds her alive and crying in her cot. Slideshow Bob runs many scenarios through his head and finally comes to the decision that he can't kill Maggie or leave her there to die and decides to take her home to him and his family. He sets up the house to look as though Homer committed the murders, putting the blame on poor dead Homer. Slideshow Bob escapes in the early hours of the morning with Maggie leaving a house where something terrible had happened and by whom we don't find out.
I really enjoyed this because the writer has taken the usually comedic Simpsons and turned it into a gruesome and chilling thriller. It was very clever to choose the character Slideshow Bob to stumble upon the murder scene just as he was planning to murder Bart Simpson because as a reader it makes you start wondering who the actual murderer was and that the Simpsons might have had another enemy. This is only the first chapter of six chapters that this writer has created and from reading the first chapter I'm engaged in this story and will continue reading the next few chapters.
5. Love after Hogwarts
This story is about what happens after Harry Potter and his friends graduate from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Like in the ending of the Harry Potter book series Harry and Ginny are together and in this story they are starting a life together as Harry buys himself and Ginny a house for her wedding present. Hermione and Ron who were together in the book series have split up and he has now moved on however there is still that connection between him and Hermione. Hermione is still traumatized and hasn't dealt with the aftermath of the battle between the Dark Lord Voldemort and his followers and the some of the wizardry world fighting for their world against the dark arts. She suffers from these nightmares every night and it's the reason she won't bring any new men to stay with her for the night we think. As the story progresses Ginny, Ron's younger sister who is now married to Harry calls Hermione and says she needs her to come over, she says she thinks she may be pregnant and asks Hermione to do a pregnancy test with her because she's too scared to do it on her own. As they wait for the test results they go out for lunch and during their lunch she gets a phone call from Harry who excitely found the pregannacy test and announces that she's pregnant! Ginny rushes off with the good news to celebrate with Harry and Hermione sets off home. This is when the story heats up because as Hermione walks into her apartment there's a voice from inside saying, "Your late Granger". We found out it's Draco Malfoy who in the book series is there enemy however it gets quite passionate between them as he says that he only wants Hermione in his life.
I really enjoyed this story because at the end it really surprises you and it's a nice twist that it's Draco Malfoy who is Hermione's lover because as you read the story you don't expect this ending. This story was written very well and I like how the writer has played with the origanel ending to this series. I like that the main characters were brought into the plot and I would be interested in more fan fiction to follow from this story. It's an unexpected ending and I would be fascinated to read further into Hermione and Draco's blossoming love.
The blogger has managed to integrate this
new character very well into the original storyline of True Blood. She manages to grasp the character Eric's personality very well within the story and adds Swedish sentences into it which is very true to the character. The story doesn't captivate me enough to read into it further if the writer did decide to do further stories with the new character Eve. There wasn't a big enough plot or any suspense leading me into thinking that something interesting will happen further into the story.
